Wang Laboratories is established.

Founded by Chinese immigrant An Wang, it is located in an office above a garage. Wang is its only employee. The company buildings a new building on Kneeland Street in 1985,* goes on to employ some 15,000 workers. It moves to Cambridge, then to Tewksbury, and finally to Lowell, before going into bankruptcy in the early 1990s. ,
